#OneVoiceOXI

On October 28, 1940, at 3 a.m., Greece faced an ultimatum: surrender to Axis occupation or face war. With unwavering courage, Prime Minister Ioannis Metaxas replied, “Alors, c’est la guerre!” – “Then, it is war!” The Greek people echoed his defiance with a resounding “OXI!” – No!
Against all odds, Greece stood firm, defending freedom and democracy in the birthplace of both. This brave stand not only inspired the world but also shifted the course of World War II.
OXI Day commemorates Greece’s bold refusal to fascism and honors the enduring spirit of resistance and freedom.
